Jungle Operations Training Course

The Jungle Operations Training Course (JOTC) spans 20 days through which students execute a 17 day program of instruction. Subjects focus on jungle mobility training, waterborne operations, combat tracking, jungle tactics and situational training exercises at both the squad and platoon levels. Graduates of JOTC learn tactics, techniques, and procedures required to successfully close with and destroy the enemy within any tropical jungle environment. The course consists of three weeks of training following the crawl, walk, run methodology embedded within each activity as well as the overall training path.

Air Assault Course

The Lightning Academy Air Assault Course (LAAAC) is designed to provide parent units with subject matter expert Soldiers, Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO), and Junior Officers in the full spectrum of LAAAC Operations. Students are trained on the missions performed by rotary wing aircraft, aircraft safety, aero-medical evacuation procedures, pathfinder operations, principles and techniques of combat assaults, rappelling techniques, and sling-load operations. The core POI requires minimum support assets and is adaptable to organic aviation elements. Both the core instruction and the additional instruction are conducted in a classroom/field environment.

Basic Marksmanship Leaders Course

The Basic Marksmanship Leaders Course (BMLC) spans 12 days through which students execute an 11 day program of instruction. Subjects focus on marksmanship and ballistics theory, basic rifle marksmanship, qualification, known distance (KD) marksmanship, short-range marksmanship (SRM), and application of various optics and night-vision devices (NVDs). Graduates of BMLC are trained on the theories and skills required to successfully plan, implement, and assess marksmanship training. The course consists of two weeks (divided into three phases) of training following the crawl, walk, run methodology embedded within each activity as well as the overall training path.

Pre Ranger Program

The Pre Ranger Program (PRP) serves as a progressive physical and tactical preparation program designed to validate 25 th ID Soldiers attending Ranger School. All graduates will be physically fit and demonstrate their ability to successfully execute the RPA, Ranger Task Training, Land Navigation, and Small Unit Tactics. All graduations will occur at Lightning Academy on the last day of the course.

Modern Army Combatives Program

The Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP) Basic Combatives Course (BCC) trains Leaders and Soldiers in order to prepare Soldiers to close with and defeat the enemy in hand to hand combat through a 40 hour course over 5 days. BCC instruction is designed to produce Team, Squad, and Platoon trainers capable of teaching Soldiers basic combatives tasks and drills.

The SPIES/FRIES Master Course is 4 active training days, designed to provide parent units with subject matter expert Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO), and JuniorOfficers in the full spectrum of SPIES/FRIES Master Duties. Students will become proficient on tower training, SPIES/FRIES sustainment training, and rotary wing operations.

Rappel Master Course

The Rappel Master Course is a one week course, 5 active training days (Monday through Friday), designed to provide parent units with subject matter expert Non- Commissioned Officers (NCO), and Junior Officers in the full spectrum of Rappel Master Duties. Students will become proficient on tower training, rappeller sustainment training, and rotary wing operations.
