Pools Open, Gate Access Increases

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS --  Army installations in Hawaii are opening some recreational facilities this weekend.
     Facilities that will open tomorrow include: Aliamanu and Helemano Military Reservations swimming pools and the Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter Information, Ticketing and Registration offices.
     Force protection measures may still impact the operating hours for all facilities.
     Gate access on Schofield Barracks has been limited to Lyman Gate for entry and Macomb Gate for exit. Access for contractors at Schofield Barracks is McNair gate 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Beginning tomorrow, from 5 a.m. - 5 p.m., McNair gate will also be open to High Occupancy Vehicles (HOVs), defined as cars with three or more persons in them.
     This is meant to encourage car pooling efforts for Soldiers, family members and employees who work at Schofield Barracks. Soldiers are strongly discouraged from parking their cars along Kamehameha Highway and Wilikina Drive. Vehicles will be ticketed and towed by local authorities.
