Command Sergeant Major Harold R. Plattenberg
Command Sergeant Major Harold R. Plattenberg entered the United States Army on 24 March 1988 from Negaunee, Michigan. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Dix, NJ and Advance Individual Training at Fort Eustis, VA as an Apache Helicopter Repairer.
His first duty assignment was with I Co 1st Aviation Regiment and later redesignated to 9th Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, and 1st Armor Division at Katterbach, Germany where he served as an Apache helicopter repairer from 1988 – 1991. Command Sgt. Maj. Plattenberg deployed with the Battalion in support of Operations Desert Shield and Storm in the defense of Saudi Arabia and Liberation of Kuwait. He was assigned to Fort Bragg, NC with 3rd Battalion, 229th Aviation Regiment (Hells Angels) of the 229th Attack Regiment from 1991-1996 where he held numerous positions of leadership. He was then assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Katterbach, Germany from 1996-2000 where he served in leaderships positions from Platoon Sergeant to First Sergeant. While there he deployed in support of operations IFOR, SFOR and KFOR in the Balkans region. He was then assigned to Fort Irwin, CA where he served as an Operation Controller on the Eagle Team, Aviation Trainers, from 2000-2002. He was then assigned to Sinai, Egypt as the First Sergeant of the Aviation Company in support of the Multi-National Forces and Observers in the Sinai Peninsula from 2002-2003. He was then assigned back to Fort Bragg, NC as a First Sergeant with 1st Battalion 229th Aviation Regiment (Tigersharks) and participated with them in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from Dec 2005-Dec 2006 at Taji, Iraq. During this time period his unit was redesignated as 3rd Battalion, 3rd Attack Recon, 3rd Infantry Division. He then was assigned to United States Army Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, TX form July 2006- July 2007 as a member of Class 57. Upon completion he was assigned to Hawaii with the 8th Theater Sustainment Command as the Aviation Sergeant Major of the Support Operations Division providing aviation support for USARPAC, USARAK and the rest of the Pacific. He was then appointed as a Command Sergeant Major in November of 2008 and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment (GSAB), 25th CAB, and 25th Infantry Division at Wheeler Army Airfield. He is presently deployed with the Battalion in support of USD-North in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Command Sergeant Major Plattenberg’s military and civilian education includes the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, First Sergeants Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Observer Controller School. He has an Associate in Applied Science.

He has also been awarded the Parachutists Badge, and the Aviation Master Wings.
