COL Malcolm B. Frost
COL Frost is from Torrance, California. He received his commission in the Infantry after graduating from the United States Military Academy in 1988. He was first assigned with the 1st BN (Mech), 8th Infantry, 4th ID at Fort Carson, Colorado where he served as a Rifle and Support Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer. In 1993 he served with the 3rd Bn, 325th Infantry Airborne Battalion Combat Team (ABCT) in Vicenza, Italy where he served as the Battalion Logistics and Air Operations Officer and Charlie Company Commander. His command tour included deployment to Bosnia-Herzegovina in December, 1995 during Operation JOINT ENDEAVOR.
In 1996 he was assigned to Fort Myer, Virginia where he commanded Charlie Company, 1st Bn, 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard). In 1998 he was assigned as the Aide-de-Camp to the 33rd Chief of Staff of the Army at the Pentagon. In 2000 he was assigned to the 82D Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he served as the Division Training Officer and Operations Officer for both the 3rd Bn, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) and 1st Bde (504th PIR). His tour as Brigade Operations Officer was highlighted by 1st Bde’s deployment to Afghanistan in 2002-2003 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
In 2003 COL Frost was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii where he served as the Chief of Exercises. From 2004-2005 he served as the G3 and later Chief of Staff for the 25th ID(L) Rear and U.S. Army Hawaii. He commanded the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment and later the 3rd Squadron, 4th U.S. Cavalry Regiment, 25th ID from 2005-2008 to include 3-4 Cav’s deployment to Iraq in 2006-2007 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. His service in Hawaii concluded with a six month tour as the Chief, Training and Exercise Division for the U.S. Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, HI.
Upon graduation from the U.S. Army War College in June, 2009 COL Frost assumed command of 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 25th ID at Schofield Barracks. In June, 2010 2nd SBCT, 25th ID will deploy to Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and later Operation NEW DAWN.
COL Frost is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Command and General Staff College, and U.S. Army War College. He holds Masters Degrees in Human Resources Development from Webster University and Security Studies from the Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star medal (second award), Meritorious Service Medal (sixth award), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (sixth award, one for Valor), Army Achievement Medal (second award), National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Armed Forces Expeditionary and Service Medals, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO Medal, the Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Meritorious Unit Citation, Superior Unit Award, and the Department of the Army Staff Identification Badge.
