The Honorable Les Brownlee, Acting U.S. Secretary of the Army, addresses a gathering of Soldiers at Kandahar Airfield's Freedom Chapel August 25, 2004. Brownlee praised the Soldiers for their commitment and efforts in the Global War on Terrorism. After speaking briefly, he answered questions that were posed to him regarding the Army, deployments, and the Reserve Component from the Soldiers. Brownlee was visiting with commanders and Soldiers participating in Operation Enduring Freedom V.

After speaking to the Soldiers about the direction the Army is taking regarding deployments, he greeted and shared a few moments with them. Brownlee expressed praise for the work of the Soldiers and answered questions from the gathering. Earlier in the day, he met with 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Light) commander, Col. Richard Pedersen and some of his staff for an overview of the activities and work of the brigade.
