LTC James B. Bartholomees III



LTC Jay Bartholomees received his commission from the United States Military Academy in 1995 as an Infantry Officer. As a lieutenant, he served as an anti-armor platoon leader and rifle platoon leader in 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, and later as a Ranger rifle platoon leader in 2d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. Upon completion of the Infantry Captain's Career Course, he served as the Battalion Assistant S-3 and HHC Company Commander in 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. In 2002, CPT Bartholomees served as the Battalion S-4 and a rifle company commander in 3d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. After promotion to Major, he served briefly in the Strategic Plans and Requirements Section (RS8) in the 75th Ranger Regimental headquarters prior to reporting to the Command and General Staff College for Intermediate Level Education. In 2006, he returned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment to serve as the Battalion Liaison Officer and Battalion Executive Officer. In 2008, he moved to the 75th Ranger Regiment headquarters to serve as the Senior Liaison Officer, Operations Officer, Executive Officer, and Deputy Commander

LTC Bartholomees' peace keeping deployments include Haiti with the 82nd Airborne Division in 1996 and Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 3rd Infantry Division in 2000 2001. LTC Bartholomees deployed multiple times as a member of Joint Special Operations Task Forces in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (3 OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (2 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. In addition, he has been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge and Air Assault Badge.

LTC Bartholomees is married to the former Kristin Lobdell, and they have four children: Alexandra (9), James and Kate (6), and Luke (5).
