CSM Francis K. Citizen


CSM Citizen, Francis K. enlisted in the United States Army on 21 January 1988 and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he was awarded the MOS of 13B Field Artillery Cannon Crewman and Honor Graduate. CSM Citizen is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and graduated from Cecilia High School.

CSM Citizen has served in numerous leadership positions to include: Gunner, Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Observer Controller, Senior Drill Sergeant, Battery First Sergeant, and Brigade First Sergeant. CSM Citizen military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant Course, NTC Observer Controller Course, Master Fitness Course, Drill Sergeant School, and Combat Lifesaver Course. CSM Citizen is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 63

CSM Citizen overseas assignments include a tour in Augsburg, Germany, 1st Battalion 36th Field Artillery Vilseck, Germany, 6th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery, Bamberg, Germany, 3rd Battalion, 1st Field Artillery, and Camp Casey, Korea, 1st Battalion, 15th Field Artillery. CSM Citizen stateside assignments include Fort Sill, Oklahoma, 3rd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery, 1st Battalion, 22nd Field Artillery and 1st Battalion, 79th Field Artillery, Fort Riley, Kansas, 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, 2nd Battalion, 307th Field Artillery and Fort Drum, New York, 4th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery and 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. The 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI, as the Fires SGM.

CSM Citizen awards and decorations include: The Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (8th Award), the Army Achievement Medal (8th Award), Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead Device, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), the Combat Action Badge.

CSM Citizen has deployed several times throughout his career, Desert Shield/ Desert Storm, OEF IV/X, Afghanistan and OEF XI/XII Afghanistan. CSM Citizen is also a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and a recipient of the Order of ST. Barbara’s award. CSM Citizen holds a Bachelors of Professional Studies in Business and Management from Excelsior University.

CSM Citizen is currently married to the former Rosemary Wood and his beautiful children, daughters Jasmin 21, Jayda 16, Anessa 14, sons Trever 12 and Aidan 7and grandson Dallas.
