Qalat, Afghanistan -- 2-35 INF donates school supplies, soccer balls, and hand held 2xway radios the women's high school. The book bags in the pictures contain some of the supplies many of you have contributed. The women were amazed and thankful that people like yourselves, so far away, would give freely these needed supplies. Everyone in the classrooms were ecstatic. The school served as the polling site for over 3,050 women voters this year and is home to grades 1 thru 12. Gym or Recess is a new concept but the woman are eager to jump into it. Soccer, Volley ball are the big sports they enjoy. Kite flying is big, but few are available. 2-35 Infantry will continue to push school supplies to the teachers along with the possibility of funding some of the courses, such as math, English, reading. The unit will return with chalk boards, white boards, and clocks for the classrooms. The Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) will remain focused on the building construction. Major Joseph P. Walsh, Battalion Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry "Cacti"
